COVID-19 Vaccine Offered for Ages 5 to 11, Mask Protocol Remains

Harris County recently lowered the COVID-19 risk level from red to orange as cases continue to decrease in our area. This week, the FDA released an approved vaccine available for children ages 5 to 11.
The district is partnering with various organizations about the possibility of operating vaccine clinics at various primary and elementary schools. In the meantime, below is a flyer with information about providers of the vaccine.
Once students are fully vaccinated, it will take 6- to 8 weeks before immunity is achieved.
“The approaching holiday season is one of the highest transmission periods for virus spread. That is why we are excited that the COVID-19 vaccine is now available to children ages five (5) and up. I encourage everyone to get vaccinated. We want to continue our mission of providing an enriching educational experience to every student. And that means keeping our schools open and everyone healthy. We will continue to prioritize safety without sacrificing learning,” said Superintendent Dr. LaTonya M. Goffney.
Mask Protocol Remains
Data shows our mask requirement has helped keep the percentage of positive cases down, and Aldine ISD is one of the districts with the lowest transmission rates compared to districts without one. The district will continue the mask protocol for students, staff, and visitors inside facilities. Aldine ISD will continue working closely with Harris County Health and Human Services to reassess should the threat level continue to decrease or rise again.
